Inspired by the sounds of Afro-Cuban percussion, the íon Cuban produces a sound similar to that of a bongo. Made from goatskin, it is 100% natural and is treated and tanned by hand. As it is a natural product, no two pieces are the same. This means that each hide has its own unique characteristics, which can be seen in the subtle but visible differences in thickness and colour variations.
We recommend applying vegetable fat to maintain flexibility and improve durability. It is this flexibility that allows the player to experiment with different frequencies and customise the íon to their own taste and playing style.

– Installation is simple: using the Allen key supplied with the Iconic Cajon (usually found on the bottom edge of the sound hole), loosen the 8 screws and insert the íon accordingly. Then tighten the screws again.
The skin tension and thus the sound of the íon can be influenced. The tuning of the íon changes depending on how tightly the screws are tightened. Experiment with a quarter to half a turn per screw to see how the sound changes until you like it. Make sure that the íon is not too loose.
