Luigi Bolaños, born in Ecuador in November 1998 into a family of musicians, has been a prominent figure in the music scene from an early age. He began his musical education at the age of 5 at the Franz Liszt Conservatory (Quito, Ecuador), studying piano and drums simultaneously. At 15, he was awarded a full scholarship to attend the International Music Camp on the border of the United States and Canada, an experience that deepened his interest in academic music and jazz.
The following year, Luigi won the prestigious Franz Liszt Award from his conservatory, given to the most outstanding student. This achievement led him to participate in the renowned Five Week Summer Camp at Berklee College of Music in Boston, marking a turning point in his musical career.
With a solid academic foundation, Luigi continued his studies at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, a Berklee Global Partner institution, where he earned a degree in Contemporary Music with a minor in Education, graduating Cum Laude. During this time, he developed his versatility as a musician, excelling not only in drums, his primary instrument, but also in piano, symphonic and Latin percussion, and even ventured into singing.
Throughout his career, Luigi has had the privilege of performing, recording, and sharing stages with renowned artists from Ecuador and around the world, solidifying his reputation as a highly respected musician. In addition to his work as a performer, Luigi has shown a strong dedication to education, serving as a drum, ear training, and ensemble professor at Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Berklee Global Partner), and as a drum coach at MusicLab (Berklee City Music Global Network).
Currently, Luigi is pursuing a master’s degree in Music Production at the Escuela Universitaria de Artes in Madrid, Spain, where he continues to expand his knowledge and expertise in the music industry. He also offers private lessons, clinics, and masterclasses, and remains active as a session musician, combining his performance talent with a solid academic background and a passion for teaching.
