Camilo Oviedo

When the Sela kalimbas came into my hands, I was speechless—first, because they are beautiful, and second, and most importantly, because of their sound. Playing them for the first time was like activating waves in the air and delighting my ears with beautiful notes. I love the sound each note of my kalimba produces; I love the design, the color, the quality, and how it sounds when I play it. Wherever I am, the harmony of the kalimba will improve my day and bring me peace. I consider myself a traveler/explorer, and wherever I go... I'll always take my Sela kalimba with me.

Pakalimba was born from the union of two of my passions: music and nature. Amidst the overwhelming amount of content we find on digital media  today, I wanted to create something different—something that people would see and think, “I deserve a moment to relax and enjoy the sound of this kalimba.” For this reason my motto is: “Your dose of kalimba to bring tranquility to your day. Any landscape improves with a good melody.”

I was born and raised in Cali, Colombia. At 7 years old, I started pulling out the pots and pans at home to imitate a drum set. I grew up with percussion in my veins, music in my ears, but I pursued a different kind of art: sports.

Despite this, I haven’t left music behind, and I don’t plan to. That’s where Pakalimba comes in—to create something, to leave a mark, to share a bit of myself through my videos, to create scenes that people can enjoy, to transform something simple into something unique. Music is for that—to express, to feel, and to enjoy.
