Devarshi started his music journey at a very young age under the tutelage of Late Pandit Sankar Ghosh, with the renowned Indian percussion instrument, the Tabla. Moved away from the tabla after his Guru passed away and immersed himself in the sounds of the Cajon, Djembe used in the diverse genres of music across the world. One of his early works is a video on YouTube called “Revolt”.
Devarshi is involved in street plays and dramas with various Kolkata groups for many years. Worked in a few films – one of which, “Opekkha” – a silent film, is being screened at music festivals. He has also worked both as an Actor and percussionist in a few other films and TV serials. One of those movies is awaiting release.
While in college, Devarshi worked on a TV documentary on the river Ganga with a renowned artist. He has also a published documentary video on the Cajon (The Rhythm of Life).
Self taught on the Cajon, which was gifted to him by his parents, He spent next 7 years exploring the cajon while taking inspirations from world renowned Cajon Artists like Hakim Ludin, Jorge Perez, Daddi Bahmani, Kalani Das, Ross McCullum and the likes.
He is also a drum circle curator and his well know for his street performances.
Currently writing a book on the basics and exploration of the cajon.
